Who is Responsible

Accidents that take place at work come in all forms. If you work in a restaurant, then you have probably seen not only cut fingers but slips, falls and burns.  It is the job of the manager of this restaurant to see that any employee who has an accident at work makes it to the hospital to be treated.  Then there will be the workers’ compensation that will be given to cover the time that they will miss work because of this accident.

But not all managers work this way.  There have been many workers who are left to deal with their injury by themselves and must then fight to have their workers’ comp paperwork filled out. If you find yourself in this situation, you should know that is your employer who is responsible to cover not only your medical expenses but your lost wages as well.  The only exception here is when it was your extreme negligence that caused this accident.

Worker’s Comp fund is payed into by your employer buy if you are working illegally or you have a special freelance contract, then it is you who are responsible for any injuries that you sustain.  But if you are a regular employee who gets a regular paycheck, then make sure your employer knows about any injury that happens at the workplace.
